Babycham Glassware

Launched in 1953, Babycham was a sparkling perry (pear cider) created by Francis Showering in Shepton Mallet, Somerset. Aimed at young women in post-war Britain, it offered a light, bubbly alternative to beer in a glamorous package. Babycham was revolutionary—it became the first alcoholic drink to be advertised on UK television in 1957, with its iconic slogan, “I’d love a Babycham!” and the charming fawn logo, symbolizing innocence and elegance.

The drink was served in its own distinctive “Babycham glass”—a petite, coupe-style glass that evoked the sophistication of champagne, making every sip feel like a celebration. These glasses became a symbol of 1950s and ‘60s chic, often passed down through generations or collected for their retro appeal.

Babycham’s branding was bold and aspirational, offering ordinary women a taste of glamour in an era of rising consumerism. After waning in popularity, the brand enjoyed a nostalgic revival in the 2000s and remains a cult classic today. Its playful charm and iconic glassware still captivate collectors and vintage lovers alike.
