Woods Pottery

Woods Pottery, founded in 1865 in Burslem, Staffordshire, emerged during Britain’s golden age of ceramics. Established by Enoch Wood & Sons, the pottery quickly gained a reputation for high-quality earthenware and elegant designs, capturing the spirit of Victorian refinement. Through the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Woods produced a range of domestic wares—from art pottery to utilitarian kitchen pieces—often recognized by their clean lines and subtle glazes.

In the 1930s, the company became Woods Ware, producing iconic patterns like "Beryl" and "Jasmine," which graced British homes and institutions for decades. These durable, pastel-toned wares were symbols of mid-century practicality and post-war resilience.

Despite shifting market trends, Woods remained a household name through much of the 20th century. Eventually absorbed by other manufacturers during industry consolidations, the brand faded from production but not from memory.

Today, Woods Pottery enjoys a revival among collectors and vintage enthusiasts. Its legacy lives on through the timeless appeal of its designs—where heritage meets function—and serves as a tangible link to Britain’s storied ceramic tradition.
