Shelley China, a beloved name in fine English porcelain, began its story in 1860 in Staffordshire, the heart of England’s pottery industry. Originally known as Wileman & Co., it wasn’t until 1910 that the company adopted the Shelley name, honoring the then-director Percy Shelley. What set Shelley apart was its commitment to innovation—creating lightweight yet durable porcelain with elegant, often Art Deco-inspired designs. Their teacups, saucers, and dinnerware became icons of refinement, prized for their quality and style. Shelley worked with celebrated designers like Rowland Morris and kept pace with changing tastes while staying true to craftsmanship. Although production ceased in 1966 after a merger with Allied English Potteries, Shelley pieces remain highly collectible today, cherished for their beauty, history, and the unmistakable charm of English tea culture.
