Burleigh Pottery, founded in 1851 in Burslem, England, is a cherished symbol of British ceramic heritage. Known for its timeless blue and white patterns, Burleigh combines artisanal skill with historic charm. Its signature technique—tissue transfer printing by hand—is a rarity today, carried out by skilled craftsmen at Middleport Pottery, its home since 1889.
Surviving industrial shifts, world wars, and modern mass production, Burleigh remains committed to traditional methods. Each piece is made using 19th-century techniques and copper-plate engravings, giving it a uniquely detailed, hand-finished quality.
In 2011, the Prince’s Regeneration Trust helped restore Middleport Pottery, securing Burleigh’s legacy for future generations. Today, Burleigh is admired worldwide not just for its beauty, but for preserving a living tradition of English craftsmanship.
