Poole Pottery, founded in 1873 on England’s south coast, began as Carter & Co., producing tiles for the booming Victorian market. In the 1920s, it evolved into a hub of artistic innovation, merging with designers Harold and Phoebe Stabler to become Carter, Stabler & Adams. The company became famous for its hand-painted pottery, especially the iconic "Delphis" and "Aegean" ranges of the 1960s and '70s—vibrant, psychedelic designs that captured the spirit of the times.
Each piece was a unique work of art, often signed by the decorator, making it both collectible and personal. Poole Pottery bridged industrial production and artistic craftsmanship, playing a key role in British studio pottery. Over the decades, it adapted to changing tastes but never lost its handmade charm or coastal character. Today, Poole Pottery is a symbol of British ceramic heritage—colourful, bold, and unmistakably creative.
